We would like to ensure that the Skerries Athletics Club Adult Section is as inclusive as possible. Training programmes include options for all levels of participants.
Once you register with the Skerries Athletics Club Senior Section, you will be added to our Group Whatsapp channel. Details of all upcoming training (location meeting points, times etc) will be communicated regularly via this channel. You are also free to ask any questions you may have regarding training in this Whatsapp group.

Groups
- Fit4Life – 0-5km & 5-10km
- Core Running
Note – Coached Sessions: the Tuesday evening sessions mentioned below are currently coached by Catherina McKiernan (Ireland’s record holder in Marathon and Gold European cross country and silver World cross country) and this typically incurs an additional training fee of €60, which covers up to 12 weeks of training. This is payable separately after joining if you wish to avail of coached sessions. The sessions are usually held at Downside Green at 7.15pm every Tuesday.
Fit4Life
Walkers and beginners to running or casual runners looking to maintain 5k running fitness. Progression onto 10km runs. All levels of ability and fitness are catered for.
- Tuesday – (Running & Walking)
- Thursday – (Running & Walking)

Core Running
All levels of fitness and ability will be catered for and the below are adaptable to suit all runners.
- Tuesday – typically covers between 5km to 8km with some intervals built in.
- Saturday Morning – typically covers between 8k and 16k. Groups will meet at Eurospar at 7.30am and will split up into 2/3 groups running at different paces with the first group typically running up to 16km at 5.30 per km. The second group will cover up to 10km at a pace of 6-6.30 per km.

Important / Road Safety: To ensure your safety and the safety of those around you, while running on roads and pathways we ask you to ensure you run in small groups and be mindful of other pedestrians on the footpaths, as well as traffic on the roadways. During darker evenings we encourage the use of hi-vis training tops and/or other reflective clothing.
