Fantastic performances from all our boys and girls representing Skerries and Balbriggan at the Dublin Community Games finals in Santry at the weekend. Pictured is our u10 mixed relay ( Henry, Troy, Keva Daisy and Daphney. Cillian not in picture) who were comprehensive winners in the final. They will now go forward to represent Skerries and Dublin in the National Community Games in Athlone in August. Gold medals were also won by the girls U14 relay (Rapha, Ruby, Ella K, Cressida and Lily), u12 600m Joshua Ericson, u10 200m Daphney Ndjatang and they will also go forward to Nationals. Silver medals were won by Rapha Diamond Ebs U14 100m and Holy Diamond Ebs u12 100m. Bronze medal was won by Lily Heaney in the U14 800m with 4th place finishes from Ruby Pereira U14 800m, Sarah Whelan u16 200m, Hugh Lawlor u12 600m, Rossa Gilbride u10 60m hurdles, Arthur Sexton u12 ball throw and the boys u12 relay (Josh, Sean, Joe, Moses and Kai). As well as all the individual medals won the majority of athletes made it through their heats, semis and into Sundays finals. A very enjoyable weekend indeed, with Skerries confirmed as 3rd best overall area behind Navan Rd in 1st and Malahide in 2nd. A special word of Congratulations to Donna May and Sheila Brennan for all their hard work and dedication in keeping Community Games in Skerries alive and kicking not just in athletics but in many other disciplines. Your work is much appreciated by everyone involved. Good luck to everyone in the finals in August.

Well done to everyone who competed in last night’s Dublin Championships in Tallaght. Congratulations to Aoimhe Downey who took silver in the u18 1500m and to Eryn Devine who took the bronze medal in the same race. Aine Mccarthy also took silver in the u19 1500m race.

Congratulations to everyone who competed over the course of the weekend at the Dublin Juvenile Track and Field Championships. On Friday night we had over 40 children in action in the 500m, 600m and 800m races from u10 right up to u19. Everyone ran their heart out and we had a silver medal winning performance from Daphney Ndjatang in the u11 600m who led from the gun unfortunately just being pipped on the line for the gold medal. Well done everyone. We had a few withdrawals from Saturdays events due to injury so it was off to Tallaght AC track on Sunday with those who qualified from Fridays heats of the 600m and 800m races as well as a small but quality field of sprinters. Congratulations to Joshua Ericson who took the bronze medal in the u13 600m, there were also super runs from Laura Fagan (14th u12 600m), Vita O’Brien (5th u13 600m), Hugh Lawlor (7th u13 600m) Lily Heaney (6th u14 800m), Rapha Diamond Ebs (7th u15 800m). We had impressive performances from those who took to the track for the 80m sprints, all the more impressive the fact that they are not sprint trained!! Ella Kingsnorth and Ella Walsh had strong runs in the u13 80m. Cressida Amaniampong and Holy Diamond Ebs both recorded impressive wins in their respective heats of the u13 80m, Cressida then went on to win her semi with Holy 2nd in hers, some 15 minutes later the girls lined up for their final and despite tiring after their earlier conquests both did exceptionally well with Cressida finishing 5th and Holy close behind in 7th. Brian Walsh took to the blocks for the u14 80m semi and finished 3rd qualifying for the final which took place some 20 minutes later. He recorded a very decent finish in 6th place, indeed you could have thrown a blanket over 1st to 8th as there was nothing between them!! Our final competitor in action, with proceedings running over an hour behind schedule was Isabel Carron who won gold in the u18 girls 3000m. Well done to all. Next Friday we return to Tallaght for the u14-u19 1500m.
