Juvenile Cross Country League

Round 2 of Juvenile Cross Country League took place in Corkagh Park, Clondalkin, yesterday 29.09.13. There were a number of top 10 finishes in many races and also a couple of ankle injuries picked up along the way, best wishes to Ella Walsh and Ciara Downey, plenty of rest and you’ll be back in action in no time!! Performance of the day came courtesy of Eibhlin McCarthy in the u15 girls race who had her first win over the Cross Country circuit. Well done Eibhlin

National Community Games finals in Athlone IT

Ella representing Skerries and Dublin in the National Community Games finals in Athlone IT last weekend. Nearest the camera, great stride! Pipped into 5th place on the line in a very fast race.

The sporting weekend continues! Ella representing Dublin in the National Community Games Finals Girls under 10’s 200 metres in Athlone, nearest us. Go girl!!!!

SIAB Schools International and Tullamore

Well done to our members who have been in action over the weekend, Isabel Carron was running for club and country in the SIAB Schools International Track & Field in Santry, she finished in 5th place in the girls 3000mtrs in a new p.b. of 10.24. Meanwhile in Tullamore today Rhona Pierce, Aine McCarthy & Orla Bollard were in action at the AAI Juvenile Track & Field Championships. Despite a super run there was disappointment for Rhona in the u16 girls 1500mtrs as she was pipped on the line for the bronze medal, solid runs frm Aine McCarthy (u17 1500mtrs) and Orla Bollard (u18 1500mtrs)!!

Dublin Community Games

Congratulations and well done to our members who were in action at the Dublin Community Games athletics finals over the weekend. You all performed superbly, a special mention to Sarah Whelan who led from gun to tape to take the u14 800mtr title in convincing fashion. Sarah will now go forward to represent both Skerries and Dublin in the National Community Games finals in Athlone in August.

Dublin Juvenile Track & Field Championships

Skerries athletes bring home 5 silver and 1 bronze medal from Dublin Juvenile Track & Field Championships…
Events kicked off in Santry on Friday evening where we had boys and girls in competiton in each of the age groups middle distance races. First medal of the Championships came courtesy of Rhona Pierce in the u16 girls 800mtrs taking silver in a new p.b. of 2.24. u12 to u14 races were run as heats on the night with Ruby Pereira(u12), Rapha Diamond Ebs(u13) and Sarah Whelan (u14) all qualifying for Sundays finals.

Saturday saw the older athletes take to the track to compete in 400mtr and 1500mtr races. Laura Costello taking the silver medal in the u17 400mtrs. A second silver for Rhona Pierce this time in the u16 1500mtrs and also silver for Orla Bollard in the u18 1500mtrs. Good runs also by our u14s Mairead Ni Chleirigh and Stephen O’Connor, u16s Isabel Carron, Sarah Byrne and Sive Duncan and Aine McCarthy in the u17 1500mtrs.

Tallaght track was the venue for Sundays finals of the 600/800. First up was Ruby Pereira in the u12 600mtrs who challenged strongly throughout the race to pick up the bronze medal. A great run by Rapha Diamond Ebs in her first Dublin Championships in the u13 600mtrs, placing 9th overall. Sarah Whelan produced a storming run in the u14 800mtrs and finished a well deserved 2nd only a second behind the winner in a new p.b. of 2.28. Well done to everyone who took part over the weekend and to our medallists who are now through to the National Championships which take place in July.

Gold and bronze at All-Ireland Schools

Super day for Skerries girls at All-Ireland Schools Track & Field, Massive congratulations to Isabel Carron who won the Intermediate Girls 3000mtrs, a bronze medal for Rhona Pierce in the Inter Girls 1500mtrs, Eryn Devine finishing 4th in u16mile with Sarah Byrne running yet another gutsy performance finishing in 7th place in the same race after a nasty fall at the start, Super performances girls, the club is so proud of your achievements. So well deserved after all your hard work! Pics to follow!!

Cumann Na mBunscol athletics

Congratulations to Sarah Whelan (St.Patricks Senior School) and Ruby Pereira (Scoil Réalt Na Mara) who won silver medals in the distance races at todays Cumann Na mBunscol athletics. Great runs from our other athletes who also competed, Alana Holland & Lily Heaney (St. Patricks) and Louisa Byrne, Lottie Simons, John Fanning and Stephen Byrne. Sprints and relays take place during the week!! Well done to all..
