National Juvenile Indoor Championships 2024

Entries for the National Juvenile Indoor Championships are now open through the online Entry4sportireland portal.

Closing Date for Skerries A.C. members is one day before the closing dates specified below at 1pm:

Day 1 23rd March – Competition No 1009 –Entries close on the 13th of March – Events – Relays, shot putt U17/18/19 G&B, Triple jump U15/18/19 G&B 

Day 2 6th  April  – Competition No 1010 – Entries close on the 27th of March – Events – Page 23 of the competition booklet

Day 3 7th April – Competition No 1011 – Entries close on the 27th of March – Events – Page 24 of the competition booklet.  

Only club competition secretaries/secretaries can submit entries for individuals (1st 4 in each event U12-U19, except for the U12/U13 600m where only 3 qualify),and relay teams (1st 3 in each age group U12-U19) that qualified in the Dublin Indoor Championships.

Bye’s for direct entry for U17/18/19 athletes MUST be requested through myself for approval before the closing date, subject to the regulation below

4. Direct Entry: Athletes aged 17, 18 and 19 may compete in the National Championships provided they have entered those events in the Provincial/Regional Championships, entries through the Regional Secretaries by closing date

Dublin Athletics Board will only be issuing a wrist band to clubs for every 6 teams entered. It will be up to clubs how they manage these.

• Athletes may compete in TWO (2) relays ONLY.

• An athlete may move up one age group, however, for all U12-U17 relays at least 2 members of a competing relay team, participating in each round of that event on that day must be of the correct age

• U17and U18 age groups, all athletes may move up one age group, n.b., only 2 U16 athletes may compete on an U17 team.

• The order for mixed relays is Male – Female -Male – Female

• If 6 teams or less check in, a Final will be held at Heat time

• Spot checks will be carried out on team entries

3 teams qualify for Nationals and these can include one sub.

All ages below are in the “Under” format. It depends on the age the athlete turns in the membership year, they will then run in the age group up – so for example a child turning 9 this year will be running under 10, a child turning 10 this year is U/11, turning 12 is U/13 etc.

  • 3rd and 4th runner will be called onto the track according to the team’s place in the race at that moment. You will be called by club or singlet colour. Listen carefully. Come onto the track immediately when called and stand forward of the red exchange zone line. There is a cone beside that line so you can see it. Break carefully to lane 1 when you get the baton
  • When you finish your leg, stand in your place until everyone has passed you and then leave the track quickly and carefully through the gate beside the finish line. Do not cross the finish line or stand on the infield.
