Well done to Keith Downey and Dylan Byrne on their great runs at the Star of the Sea 5k last night. Keith had a brilliant run and claimed 2nd prize in a highly competitive mens 0/40 category!

Leinster Schools Track & Field Championships

Super performances from Skerries AC athletes at todays Leinster Schools Track & Field Championships…..Isabel Carron claimed victory in the Intermediate girls 3000mtrs, Rhona Pierce 2nd in Inter Girls 1500mtrs, while Laura Costello battled bravely in the Inter 300mtrs finishing 8th…well done everyone

East Leinster Schools

Well done to Daniel Kelly (CUS) who has qualified for the Leinster Schools Track & Field Championships on 18th May, following his silver medal success in the Inter Boys 1500 steeplechase at Tuesdays East Leinster Schools qualifiers!!

Congratulations to our medal winners at todays Leinster Schools Track & Field Championships in Santry, Eryn Devine (centre), Loreto Balbriggan, gold in u16 mile, Sarah Byrne on right of picture (Skerries CC) silver in the same event. Both girls will now go forward to represent their respective schools at the All-Ireland Schools Track & Field finals in Tullamore in June, fantastic achievement by both girls. Daniel Kelly (CUS) was also in action today in the Inter Boys 1500 steeplechase event finishing 8th overall. The Leinsters continue on Saturday 18th May in Santry and will see the following athletes in action and hoping to secure All-Ireland qualification, Laura Costello (Inter 300mtrs), Rhona Pierce (Inter 1500mtrs) & Isabel Carron (Inter 3000mtrs)

North Leinster Schools Track & Field Championships

It was a busy day for club athletes at yesterdays North Leinster Schools Track & Field Championships. We had a large number of athletes in action for their various schools.There were gold medal wins from Rhona Pierce in the Intermediate Girls 1500mtr and Eryn Devine in the u16 mile race. Silver medals were won by Isabel Carron in the Inter girls 3000mtrs, Sarah Byrne in the u16 mile and Laura Costello in the Inter Girls 300mtrs. Disappointment for Aoimhe Downey in the Inter Girls 800mtrs, finishing 4th, who despite carrying a painful knee injury and has been out of action for the past number of weeks as a result, battled bravely through the race. Skerries Community Games

Well done to everyone who competed in Skerries Community Games athletics yesterday…a great turnout and some very exciting races, we have some very talented athletes in Skerries and it will be great to see those who qualified, in action on the 15th & 16th June in Morton Stadium, Santry at the Dublin Community Games finals!! You can all be very proud of your achievements.. Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped out on the day and to those who were out from early morning on both Saturday and Sunday marking out the course and setting everything up, the day would not have run so smoothly withhout your help. Finally, a word of thanks to Donna May and Sheila Brennan for all their hard work over the years to ensure that Skerries Community Games is still thriving and active, take a bow ladies!!

SIAB Schools Cross Country International in Wales

Best of luck to Isabel Carron and Rhona Pierce as they depart for the SIAB Schools Cross Country International in Wales tomorrow. Following their phenomenal success at the Aviva All-Ireland Schools CC Championships both girls were selected to represent the Irish Schools team. This is a fantastic achievement for both girls and is truly well deserved, we are so proud of them. Good luck girls!!”Some people dream of success……others stay awake to achieve it”

Round 1 of the juvenile Spring Series

Round 1 of the juvenile Spring Series took place this morning on the South Beach. It was great to see so many children out running and taking part in athletics, for many it was their first time running in a race and you can all be very proud of yourselves. Congratulations to everyone who took part, many thanks to all the parents who helped with marshalling, making tea/coffee, sandwiches, home baked goods, without your help the mornings events would not have gone so smoothly.
Round 2 takes place next Sunday 10th March in Portmarnock 11am start time, details will be sent out during the week.
