Round 2 of the juvenile Spring Series took place on the beach in Skerries yesterday morning. Despite a few squally showers the weather for the most part remained dry with the sun trying its best to breakthrough on a number of occasions. As hosts for the days events we welcomed athletes from Clonliffe Harriers AC , Portmarnock AC, Lusk AC and Celtic DCH and had in the region of 200 competitors from u8s up to u16s. Well done to everyone who competed and a special word of thanks to the parents and coaches who helped in any way from making teas and coffees, to bringing goodies and baking homemade treats, to those who helped build the course and those who marshalled as well as the coaches who helped with warming up the athletes.Thank you also to Noel Guiden from Clonliffe Harriers for his excellent action shots of the athletes which can be viewed on link below. Another successful Skerries Beach Race enjoyed by all!!
Round 1 of the Juvenile Spring Series got off to a flying start yesterday in Morton Stadium, Santry hosted by Clonliffe Harriers AC . We even had the added bonus of beautiful Spring sunshine. Skerries AC turned out in huge numbers for the first round of this very popular Inter Club Spring Series, with around 50 young boys and girls from the club taking part. For many of the athletes this was their very first time to run competitively and they all did themselves proud in particular the girls u15 race who had to contend with a difficult 1000m round the track. No mean feat for the girls who have only joined the club in the past few weeks. Well done Leah and Mia. Indeed there were many inspiring performances over the age groups. Well done to everyone who turned out, to all the coaches and parents for their help in warming up the athletes. Thank you to the hosts Clonliffe Harriers for organising a very enjoyable mornings racing and for the great action shots These can be viewed on the Clonliffe website. We look forward to our now world famous beach race on Sunday March 29th. Top 5 finishes from Skerries athletes as follows:
